Facing a Critical Maintenance Challenge: Workers Shouldn’t Have to Risk Their Lives Picking Up Debris

Large debris on highways—such as tire fragments, metal drums, and wooden boards—can pose serious safety hazards and contribute to traffic accidents. Yet traditional manual debris removal often requires maintenance workers to cross active lanes and bend down to collect debris, putting them dangerously close to passing traffic every time they work. After extensive field research with frontline maintenance teams, EROMEI’s R&D team developed the “Scavenger” Large Debris Collection Equipment, one of the first of its kind developed in China. Its core concept is simple: keep workers inside the vehicle and keep traffic moving. By mechanizing debris collection, the Scavenger helps reduce the need for workers to exit the vehicle and minimizes the need for lane closures during debris removal.

清道夫+防撞缓冲车：双重安全，一体作业

“清道夫”的核心突破在于不停车作业能力。它采用铲扫一体多功能设计，支持快速拆装，在时速60公里行驶状态下即可完成对轮胎、铁桶、木板等大件障碍物的清理，全程无需停车或人工下车干预。作业时速覆盖5至80公里，真正实现“不停车、不封路”的移动式清障。据行业实测数据，其清障效率较传统人工模式提升5倍以上。

“清道夫”集合防撞缓冲车实现一体式作业，由防撞缓冲车在后方提供安全屏障，清道夫在前方执行清障任务，形成“防护+清理”的双重安全链条。支持驾驶室内遥控操作，养护人员无需暴露于车流之中，从根本上解决了横穿车道拾捡的安全难题。

Scavenger + TMA: Dual Safety, Integrated Operation

The key breakthrough of the Scavenger is its ability to perform debris removal without stopping. Featuring an integrated sweeping-and-scooping design with quick-change functionality, it can remove large obstacles such as tire fragments, metal drums, and wooden boards while traveling at speeds of up to 60 km/h, without stopping or requiring workers to exit the vehicle. With an operating speed range of 5–80 km/h, the Scavenger enables mobile debris removal without stopping and without lane closures. According to field testing data, its debris removal efficiency is more than five times higher than traditional manual operations.

The Scavenger can be integrated with a Truck-Mounted Attenuator (TMA) to create a combined safety and debris-removal system. The TMA provides a protective barrier at the rear, while the Scavenger performs debris removal ahead, forming a dual safety chain of “protection + clearance.” With remote control operation from inside the cab, maintenance personnel can remain safely inside the vehicle without being exposed to live traffic. This fundamentally addresses the safety risks associated with workers crossing active lanes to manually collect debris.
